Sismos — Earthquake Alerts
This app collects no personal data. There is no sign-up, no account, no login, and none of your information is sent to our servers or stored by us.
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, files, device identifiers or usage history. We use no behavioural analytics tools.
If you grant the approximate location permission, it is used only on your device, to work out how far away each quake is and to suggest an alert region. Your location is not transmitted, not stored and never reaches us. The app works fully without that permission, and you can revoke it at any time in your system settings.
Alerts work through Firebase Cloud Messaging topic subscription. Your device subscribes itself to a subject such as "quakes in Italy above M4.0". We publish a message addressed to that subject and Google delivers it to whoever is subscribed. We keep no user list, we do not store your device identifier, and we have no way of knowing who received a notification.
Earthquake information comes from the public feeds of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). This app is not affiliated with those institutions or with any government body. When fetching that data, the app makes an ordinary internet request to those services.
The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) to deliver notifications and Google Maps to display the map. Those services have their own privacy policies.
The current version shows no adverts. If adverts are added in the future, this policy and the Data Safety form on Google Play will be updated before or on the same day that version is published.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
All app traffic is carried over HTTPS.
This app does not predict earthquakes. It reports quakes already detected and published by seismographic networks, which can take 1 to 15 minutes after the event. It is not a replacement for your local civil protection authorities or for the alert system built into your device.
Questions about this policy can be sent to the developer contact email published on the app page on Google Play.
